SORCHA MUNRO

She had been making her way back towards the caves when curiousity had gotten the better of her and the she-wolf decided to fully investigate the situation surrounding the Pine Forest. Although anger had burned in the pit of her stomach as she thought of the wolves who had tried to lay claim over the forest, it was slowly being replaced with a smug sense of pride as she passed stale marker after stale marker. No one had tried to run her off the territory even though she had specifically chosen a path that took her through the heart of the forest, just one of many that she had committed to memory over the years she had lived here.

A wide grin spread across her maw and a slight spring found its way into her step, sending her tail waving behind her. The pack wolves were gone, the forest belonged to the thieves once again. She could take her time heading back to the caves. Lachlan wasn’t expecting her back, and she was sure he would be as pleased as she was to hear that the outsiders had vacated the forest beside them, even if she wouldn’t be able to convince him to move from his coveted labyrinth to her former home.

Besides, it seemed like the Pine Forest was making it abundantly clear to the wolves of Cyrileth that it was not something to be claimed.

bruises bathed...

He had taken great care to take the mutilated fawn back to the pine forest.

Less of a beast and more of a butcher's prize, the prey had seen some better days. It was little more than rotten meat and bone, fully outfitted with an open rib cage and a gnawed thigh. The neck had finally been opened up and the last haunch was left to be devoured. Sadly, Elias' prize had ceased to run red. Within a day of the summer's heat, a sickly sweet stench had begun to settle above the skin. Step too close and one's stomach would twist from whiffs of fetid meat.

That said, Elias was a simple soul and one of meager means. With no pack to afford him the benefits of another's work, he hunted only when necessary. It was not worthwhile to risk his body when he could feed on lesser meals. Being one that prized a conservative life, he did not balk at his festering fawn. Instead, he crouched near it protectively.

With the wind bathing his face, he caught the scent of a wayward traveler. She was advancing quickly—if the subtle sound of her footfalls was telltale. While he could gather that she was a female and young, he knew little else. Her trajectory marked her as a competitor, and as she passed, he did not wait to speak.

Leaping, he attempted to press his paws into her shoulder and send them tumbling into the moss. His goal was to pin the wolf, but that was utterly up to his unsuspecting victim.

SORCHA MUNRO

Of all the things that could have happened to her in the pine forest, the last Sorcha was expecting was to be ambushed in what was once her home, and so she noticed the male too late to evade as he leaped towards her, crashing into her side.

A curse caught in her throat as the two tumbled through the underbrush. Sorcha scrabbled against the ground as they rolled, paws searching for purchase; solid ground to propel her out from the stranger’s grip - she was not about to be caught defenseless beneath a violent stranger.

Luck was on her side today; the male was not quick enough in regaining his footing to pin her, and she darted away, out of reach. Sorcha whipped around to face the stranger, adopting a defensive position with muscles taut and ready to spring away should he jump at her again, ears pinned to her skull and teeth bared. Fur bristled upon her spine, furious that she had been attacked, that she had been so distracted in her daydreams that she had not noticed the stranger until he leapt at her. “What the hell was that?” she managed to hiss between her panting, fighting to regain her breath, should she need to bolt.
